Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Juristat

Juristat embraces diverse mindsets, experiences, and backgrounds because it is the right thing to do – and because it makes our team stronger and more successful.

Diverse teams solve problems faster.

Every new product starts out as a problem to solve. We have found that we uncover the best answer faster when the voices in the room come from varied genders, sexualities, races, socio-economic classes, and cultures.

Diversity drives unique perspectives, allowing our team to overcome barriers to find the best solution.

Our DEI Statistics

Transparency is central to everything we do at Juristat. We conduct an annual, completely voluntary and anonymous employee survey to assess whether we are meeting our DEI values. In 2022, we had 92.5% participation. On this page, you’ll find a sampling of that data.

We intend to conduct this survey annually to find ways to serve our employees better, shape our recruitment strategy, and determine other goals for improvement.

Sex and Gender Identity

The tech industry is notoriously lacking in gender diversity. At Juristat, employees self-reported as 48.6% female, 48.6% male, and 2.7% intersex.

Further, gender identity is an essential component of a diverse workplace. Nearly fourteen percent of our staff identify as non-binary, transgender, agender/non-gender, or genderqueer. In both survey questions, employees were allowed to select more than one option.

We are proud to be a safe and inclusive workplace for individuals of all gender identities. We have strict anti-harassment policies, gender-affirming healthcare coverage, gender-neutral bathrooms at our headquarters, and unlimited work-from-home policies.

In 2023, we became an Employer Partner of Rung for Women, a St. Louis organization that supports women in developing the skills they need to pursue career pathways that will allow them to increase their income. Juristat was also recently recognized as one of the top places for women to work by the Women’s Foundation of Greater St. Louis.

Bottom line – diversity is good for business.

If a company is biased against a particular group of people – based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, socio-economic class, disability, former LEO/Veterans, you name it – then they minimize their supply of new hires. Still, their demand for growth remains the same, which means they pay more for less-skilled candidates.

A company that removes bias from its hiring process will have more qualified team members at more equitable salaries.

Inclusive teams ensure that Juristat’s products, sales strategy, marketing materials, and customer support are built to serve the entire market: accessible, welcoming, and respectful of all people.

Our anecdotal experiences are backed by years of peer-reviewed research that shows diverse teams are simply more successful. Learn more about how a focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion can improve your workplace. →

LGBTQIA+

According to research conducted by the Williams Institute at the UCLA School of Law, published in 2021, members of the LGBTQIA+ community make up 5.9% of the U.S. workforce. At Juristat, 40% of employees self-identify as members of the LGBTQIA+ community, whether homosexual, bisexual, pansexual, asexual, demisexual, or queer. Employees were allowed to select more than one option.

Juristat supports our LGBTQIA+ team members through equal parental leave policies, strict adherence to respecting pronouns, and continued efforts to improve healthcare coverage for trans employees and dependents. Most of all, we continuously strive to create a persecution-free space where individuals can flourish.

Neurodiversity & Disabilities

According to an NIH study published in 2020, an estimated 15-20% of the population is neurodiverse. Juristat employs a higher rate – 38% self-reported that they either formerly identified or currently identify as neurodiverse.

A 2017 report by the U.S. Census Bureau says that approximately 5% of the U.S. workforce identifies as having a disability. Our survey found that 22% of Juristat employees either formerly identified or currently identify as a person with a disability.

Benefits like remote work, unlimited PTO, and flexible work times allow Juristat to be a safe and accessible workplace for all.

While we are proud of our progress, we are committed to further improvement. We continuously seek ways to improve our recruitment strategy, benefits offerings, professional development, and team dynamics to encourage more diversity, equity, and inclusion at Juristat in 2023 and beyond.
